Steven Middleton is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and Senior Instructor of Media Production and Journalism at Morehead State University. A native of Access, Kentucky, his films capture the heart of Appalachian and Kentucky traditions through stories of resilience, culture, and music.

Steven has produced nineteen documentary films that explore the rich cultural tapestry of Appalachia and Kentucky. Notable works include Commonwealth Curiosities Volumes 1 & 2, Between the Rock and the Commonwealth, Stages and Waves: An Excursion Through Challenging Times, and From the Cowboy’s Boot Heel: The Musical Journey of Rob McNurlin. His films have been featured on four PBS affiliates and nationally on PBS along with being screened at film festivals around the world.
